Contemporary portraiture artist
Raised on the Navajo Reservation of New Mexico Salazar never received formal art training other than watching his father paint and draw. Through his work Salazar aims to contemporize Native America and help represent this group as a people of the times. His work has toured the United States, utilizing the canvas to share the history of Native American people.
LX Lewis is an American Indian artist born to the majestic sacred Black Hills of the Sioux Nation in South Dakota. A former student of the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, he is known for his carvings created using Manzanita wood. LX brings this exotic and organic medium to the Untap Indian Markets. By working with its free-flowing gesture form, LX works with the wood’s natural flowing lines and vivid coloring.
