Funner’s finest get building with Habitat for Humanity
There’s just something about building a project yourself that provides endless amounts of euphoria and pride. The clank of driving nails into fresh timber, the soothing feeling of fresh paint coming off of the roller and that classic dusting of your hands as you stand back and admire your masterpiece. We at Harrah’s Resort SoCal can’t get enough of that feeling, especially when the hard work and effort benefits our fellow San Diego County communities. Sure, you may have spotted us packing lunches for vaccination stations or training service animals at CCI Canine. But when San Diego Habitat for Humanity asked us to swap our Harrah’s Resort SoCal hats for hard hats and help construct a house during the Women Build event, you bet we rolled up our sleeves and got to hammering!
While Habitat for Humanity and Funner Californians have been working hand in hand for six years, Women Build is a very special event that has brought together volunteers from all walks of life since 1991. As Habitat for Humanity would say, “women helping women sends a positive message.”
“Our Women Build event provides an opportunity for women to take a proactive step in serving their communities.” says Habitat for Humanity corporate partnerships manager Bridget Strickland. “We’ve partnered with Harrah’s Resort SoCal since 2015 and we’re so happy to have the woman of Harrah’s Resort SoCal come out this month. The home we’re building here in Encinitas, CA provides a much needed housing opportunity in the area and is greatly appreciated by the community. You should be very proud.” she adds.
